An attorney is a practitioner in a court of law who is legally qualified to prosecute and defend actions in court on the retainer of clients

If you are petitioning the court to establish a guardianship you will want to retain an attorney experienced in elder law or probate matters to assist you with understanding your responsibilities, file court documents, and other legal tasks.  You will likely retain her/his services for the duration of a proceeding.  There are many qualified attorneys.  Some are GCA Oregon members and you can find them in our membership list.
